a great place to rest my weary bones

LOVE this chair from Room Service Home! seriously! I think they intended it for small children, but I am a big fan.

13 Going on 30

Sorry for all the 30 talk lately--- but I watched "13 Going on 30" again today for the first time in a while.
What a GREAT movie!! I love it!
Love when the mom says that she wouldn't go back and change any of her mistakes because she wouldn't have learned how to make things right.
Love that.

And how true is it? When we truly learn from mistakes, then we learn how to make things right in the future. Only God can repair those broken bridges and hearts- and when we truly Him allow Him to have control over our mistakes, then we can let Him make it right.

I think it's time I let him.

27 is the new 30?

um, a student called me 30 today. kill me.

not that 30 is bad. I'll be fine when I get there. But I am, in fact, NOT THIRTY.

i hate to get so upset. but it really freaked me out.

and then one of my students said, "well, if you round, you are..."
and i said "shut your filthy mouth".

sad times.

Walking Wisely

So, I went on a retreat this weekend called Walking Wisely. My church has been doing it for about 8 years now, and I've been on most of them. But, this year was incredible.
Stuart Hall (from NorthPointCC) came a spoke- he's incredible- and hilarious. And he loves Alabama, so you know I love him!
James David Carter came and led w/ our normal band (Clark, Salina, Ben, Fish, and Evan)-- incredible.
I'm gonna post pics asap.

But, there was a song we sang all weekend-- and it was INCREDIBLE.

Your love oh God, displayed for us
As crimson covered over sinless hands
Your Majesty, for all to see
In raging storms and quiet cloudless days

Beautiful Jesus, Beautiful Savior
Nothing is greater, brilliant Creator
Friend of mine

An awesome weekend. For me. For my girls.

And-- added bonus- I have a new crush ;)

nothing I can say- a total eclipse of the moon

So, I watched the lunar eclipse last night-- pretty cool. Gonna be honest.
However, the clouds got ALL up in the way for a long time, but I got to see it for a little bit.
Pretty cool! I am a lucky girl-- because there won't be one for a few more years. Lucky me!

Well, I'm about to go do some laundry because I'm going out of town this weekend and at this point, I will have to wear the same shirt all weekend. And my crush is gonna be there. So, I need to look cuter than the same shirt every day. He loves me. Probably. I'll let you know.

I love you, too!

Oh. And free news. My mom decided I need to be on eHarmony. So she paid for it. And now I'm a member. So we may be eHarmony matches. If you're lucky.

I knew I'd love it....

Step Up 2 came out this weekend.
It is amazing.
In a highschool-awesome dancing-not great acting-totally predictable- sort of way.
I loved it.
And I'm not a little embarassed.
It's totally predictable-- and the dancing is AMAZING. There's a scene with Channing Tatum (reprising his role of Tyler Gage from the first movie) where they're dancing in the club-- and there are trampolines in the floor. And it is bad ass. So amazing.
And reminder. this boy is SO pretty. He was a douchey guy in "She's the Man"-- but he redeemed himself in this. Love him. and boy can straight DANCE.

valentine's day didn't suck

shock, I know.
But, when you're 27 and single, Valentine's Day has a way of being a huge giant suckfest.
but, not so much.
it wasn't like the best day ever or anything, but I didn't want to jump under a bridge by nightfall.

great day at school- lots of energy and i feel like I taught well, so that's always a bonus. (other than my douche-y student teacher, but that's out of my control....)
sat and laughed with 2 girl friends after work for about an hour, so that always blesses me.
then went home where preparations for our "so you're telling me i'm single" party were underway.
but then I left. to go see the fam. had to take something to the mom. got a little "love present" as my my mom calls them- precious.. my mom is awesome. you wish she were your mom. but she is not. sorry. and i got to hang out with the neph. we opened my present and went to go see our neighbors. and played with ribbon. and banged a tin on the dining room table until we got in trouble.
and then I came back home. to finish getting ready for our super party. it was chilll and low key- but we had great snacks (inclusing a chocolate fountain- be jealous!) and cute cocktails (called a "flirtini"-- didn't hate it!)
and then we laguhed. and laughed. and told our worst date stories (another day....). and laughed.

then I went to sleep.

oh! forgot the fun text flirting I got to do with a sweet boy whom I love! he's precious. I'd date him. but, not so much. and on this day, it's just nice to be flirted with. :)

happy vd ;)

John Rocker Breaks My Heart

I loved John Rocker.
Not now.
But back in the day-- when he sprinted out of the bullpen for 98 NCLS, I was in love. Then he had a 98mph fast ball. It was infatuation.
And I was a devoted fan- cheered loud, had a cute little jersey tshirt with ROCKER and the number 49 emblazened across the back. Love.

Then he freaked out on me. First the Sports Illustrated article. Then he became captain mad. And started talking trash to the (dirty) Mets. Then he couldn't strike anyone out. Then he got sent down. Then he got traded.

And now he's owned up to using steriods.
Oh, Johnny.
Deep in my heart, I still love you.
If you asked me out, I would still stay yes.

And only be a little embarassed-- but mostly about the blown saves.

National Signing Day

So, Wednesday was National Signing Day for College Football-- and I know a lot of you could care less-- but for the University of Alabama, it was a HUGE day.

according to rivals.com, Bama has the NUMBER ONE recruiting class for the year. Shows how huge Nick Saban's impact has already been on our football program.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please understand that I am not one of those people popping off about how we're gonna win a National Championship in a year- I have MUCH more reasonable expectations.
Number One- Beat Auburn. In all honesty, we could lose every game-- and I would stilll be happy if we beat Auburn.
Number Two- Win more than we lose. We ended up 7-6 last year- a winning season by the skin of our teeth. But with some big wins, and some close losses in their. I'd much rather see 10 wins or so-- but more wins than losses.
Number Three- Beat Georgia. Because I live here, I have an extreme hatred for the University of Georgia. We had a great game against them last year, but lost in overtime. Major bummer, but at least it was good football. And it's all good for me until some punk Georgia fan starts talking trash about how "UGA killed Bama"- then I want to punch people. They're gonna have a good year-- keep on praying that Moreno moves on to the NFL asap or we'll all be in trouble.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

But, we have had a GREAT off season so far-- recruiting going VERY well!

Keep your eyes and ears open for Julio Jones, Jerrell Harris, Burton Scott, Tyler Love, Mark Barron, Barrett Jones and Marcel Dareus. All of them signed with Alabama--- and they're all on the Top 100 Prospects at Rivals.com. Get excited!!

shoes for spring

this picture doesn't do these shoes any kind of justice, so you'll have to trust me when I tell you that these are the cutest shoes ever. Target, of course. and they're hot pink-- look a little paler in the picture, but they're HOT pink in real life. LOVE them!!! You can buy them at your local Target, or if you're feeling a little lazy, you can sit and order them from here!

and then in flu enza

I have the flu.
I have drugs.
So, I am drugged (legally).
And reading books.
Finished "Flies on the Butter" by Denise Hildreth.
It's pretty good- I like her books a lot.
I'll blog more when I am feeling not so death like.

War Dance

I went to see an indie film last week. It's not something I do very often-- I'm usually the girl interested in the latest romantic comedy or sports movie (weird, I know). But, I went with a friend to see "War Dance".
It's amazing.

If you've ever seen "Invisible Children", you'll understand a lot of the background of the movie. There's been a rebellion going on in Uganda for about 20 years. In that time, the Lord's Resistance Army had tried to overthrow the current government of Uganda. Because the LRA has faced so much opposition, they have resorted to kidnapping children and forcing them to fight in the war. They teach them to be immune to violence-- and threaten violence if the children try to run away.

So, now there's tons of fear for the people of Uganda. And the government has moved them in to Displacement camps- where they are protected by the Ugandan government and the UN. Displacement camps are incredibly overcrowded-- land meant for 10 families now house 50,000 people.

The people living there have experience horrific tragedy and pain.

But they still dance.

"War Dance" chronilces the journey of the school in one of the camps that is trying to compete in the National Ugandan Music Competition in Kampala (the capital).

It's incredible to learn the stories of these children (and adults) who have gone through such heartache, and watch as they triumph over their pasts.

I think it's already left Atlanta, but the movie is making its way around the country. It's already won all sorts of awards for its awesomeness-- and I'll give it one too. (I'm not sure if the "Cami Smith Seal of Awesomeness" counts for much, but it is an award).

You should try to see it.

So good.

the official end of football season

So, tonight is the Super Bowl- Patriots vs. Giants-- more commonly known as Eli vs. Tom.

and I'm as excited as I can be for professional football-- mainly because I love Eli Manning.

But this also marks a sad day in life- the official end of football season. I LOVE football-- and baseball. But neither one of those are going on after today. Until April. And then until August.

But, I'll be with the sister-in-law at T-Mac!

GO GIANTS!!
