pretend friends

I like to pretend that I know Casey Darnell. I know people who know him. I hear him lead worship at Buckhead Church and Big Stuf. I follow him on Twitter. I listen to his music. This is obviously enough to allow myself to pretend that we're friends.

Right?

Well, I choose yes.
So, now I will tell you to go buy my friend Casey Darnell's new EP- out today on iTunes!
Honestly, after being led in worship by Casey for so long now, I honestly feel like I know him. He's an amazing man after God's heart- and you are NOT going to be sad you bought this!

@loswhit

For the past few years, I have gotten to know Carlos Whittaker.

Only that he doesn't know me from Adam's cat (whoever that is...)- because I know him from his blog and from twitter.

It's weird how much I feel like I know him- from reading his heart, being challenged by his thoughts, and laughing at his witty observations. He used to be on staff at Buckhead Church, but has recently left because God was ready for him to do something new.

Yesterday, he released his EP on iTunes.
If you haven't bought it, you're way behind- it's already #1 on the Christian chart and in the top 50 for all of iTunes.

um. check it out. now.
only $2 for 3 songs-and ONE SONG IS FREE!
the rest will be released in the spring.

Sing For Joy

When I was growing up at FUMC's youth camp, this was a song we sang all the time... I loved it. It's been in my head the last few days. You should love it. Just sayin.

Sing for joy to God our strength
Sing for joy to God our strength, our strength

If we call to Him, He will answer us
If we run to Him, He will run to us
If we lift our hands, He will lift us up
Come now praise his name, all you saints of God.

Draw near to Him, he is here with us
Give Him your love, He·s in love with us
He will heal our hearts, He will cleanse our hands
If we rend our hearts He will heal our land.

Soundtrack to Our Lives

My roommate and I always talk about the songs that would be on our life's soundtrack. Not necessarily songs that would tell our story, but songs we have always and will always love. No requirements outside of the fact that they make you happy. Easy as pie. We've also decided that it's like a hip-hop album, so it can have 18 songs on it. You're welcome. :)

Some of mine are:
1. Run Around Sue- Dion
2. Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay- Otis Redding
3. Cowboy Take Me Away- Dixie Chicks
4. Jessica- The Allman Brothers Band
5. Lonely Night in Georgia- Marc Broussard
6. Sweet Home Alabama- Lynyrd Skynyrd
7. Shifting Sand- Caedmon's Call
8. You Said- Shane & Shane

What's on your soundtrack?

killer music you should know

Sometimes there are songs that you just love, but they're not really songs one would hear on the radio-- so unless you open your big mouth and tell other people, no one will ever know about it.
So, today I'm doing my part!

Songs I Love that you may not have heard of:

1. Windfall by SunVolt-- May the wind sweep your troubles away- both feet on the floor, two hands on the wheel- may the wind sweep your troubles away.

2. Baby You're Right by Derek Trucks Band featuring Susan Tedeschi-- I just love this song. Love her voice. Great song to dance to :)

3. You Said by Shane & Shane- This isn't a new song by any stretch, but it's one of those songs that puts the Word of God to melody- and well, it's amazing. Ask and I'll give the nations to you!

4. January by Micah Dalton- I've known Micah since before he played guitar-- and he's turned out to be a pretty good musician. I blame by problems on January.

5. Great Things Take Time by Ed Cash-- I can tell you where I was the first time I heard this song (Mobley Hall at FFA/FHA) and it changed my life. If your destiny is to be carved into a perfect thing, life does not begin until you die to the way you live.

6. On a Night Like This by Dave Barnes- I love this boy. And his voice. He's amazing. New album out. But this song will change your life.

7. Lonely Long Enough by James David Carter- oooohh, Lawd, this boy's voice is ridiculous. this song may make you faint.

8. Brown Eyes by Andy Davis- Saw this guy in concert when he opened for Dave Barnes- so good. This song is supposedly about my roommate (well, she thinks it is)-- you'll like it!

9. Girl America by Mat Kearney- I love everything that Mat Kearney does. Such a jam. Love it.

10. Stars by David Crowder Band- I love this song. I love the words. It's an older jam. But man, oh man- the words bless me every single day.

a busy girl

I have been SUPER busy the last week- finished school last Friday- had two days of post planning this week- and in the mean time managed to see 4 movies and 2 concerts. Jealous? I know. I would be jealous of me, too.

I saw Steve Miller Band and Joe Cocker at the new Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Alpharetta-- it's really nice- it's very comparable to Lakewood/HiFiBuys in size but just a newer, slightly classier version. But it was a GREAT show-- Joe Cocker impressed me- Steve Miller Band was as awesome as I could have ever imagined.

And I saw it with some amazing girls!I also saw Natasha Bedingfield, Kate Voegle and The Veronicas at Variety Playhouse this week- SO SO SO SO great-- I love Kate Voegle-- she was uh-MAZ-ing. Can't handle how great she is!
But the whole show was super!!

And I've seen Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (amazing), Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford is still hot as ever), What Happens and Vegas (Kutcher and Cameron at their bests), Forgetting Sarah Marshall (HILARIOUS), and Sex and the City (still love Big- he's my #1). Check them out!!

ARE YOU EXCITED!?!?!??!

THE RETURN OF NKOTB!!!

Word on the street is that they're going on tour-- I will be first in line.

Shut up. I love them. SO much.

I Heart Dave Barnes

Don't you just love Dave Barnes? Just the cutest boy ever- and a JAM of a musician.

The roomie and I saw him Sunday night at The Loft (kinda creepy venue, but whatev)-- and he was amazing.
He has a new album out- AMAZING. It's so super- he did a lot of stuff from the album at the show- stellar. And he re-did "On A Night Like This"-- if you didn't love it before (you must have been dead), you can love it now! Pic links to amazon so you can buy :)

But, my all time fav album of his is "Brother bring the sun"-- the greatest thing ever. Check it out!!

Walking Wisely

So, I went on a retreat this weekend called Walking Wisely. My church has been doing it for about 8 years now, and I've been on most of them. But, this year was incredible.
Stuart Hall (from NorthPointCC) came a spoke- he's incredible- and hilarious. And he loves Alabama, so you know I love him!
James David Carter came and led w/ our normal band (Clark, Salina, Ben, Fish, and Evan)-- incredible.
I'm gonna post pics asap.

But, there was a song we sang all weekend-- and it was INCREDIBLE.

Your love oh God, displayed for us
As crimson covered over sinless hands
Your Majesty, for all to see
In raging storms and quiet cloudless days

Beautiful Jesus, Beautiful Savior
Nothing is greater, brilliant Creator
Friend of mine

An awesome weekend. For me. For my girls.

And-- added bonus- I have a new crush ;)
