Sephora Mascara

Sephora at Town Center opened today. I think I may buy this. It's a bunch of good mascaras in smaller sizes so you can try a lot before committing to one! Brilliant? I think yes!

Be A Rebel. Read Banned Books.

During the course of every year, I have my students gain a little understanding of the whole concept of a book being "challenged" or "banned" by people, a school, or even a government. In different years, I have used different approaches-- but I always want them to walk away with an understanding of the injustice of banning books.
(A quick aside- I do believe that there are certain books that are more appropriate for certain ages and shouldn't be in Media Centers of certain schools- but I don't think that's the same thing as banning it).

This year we read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury- it was intense- and took FOREVER. But, the pay off was so worth it. My kids loved it. They had a hard time, but when they got it, they GOT IT.
One of the major themes throughout the novel is the idea that making everyone happy- and offending no one- only makes us dumber. Everyone's not going to be happy. Everyone's not going to be able to enjoy the comfort of not being offended. It's such a good book. If you somehow slipped through your education without reading, I'm going to highly suggest that you get on it.

All of that to say this...
I want this bracelet. It's SO cute! AND it's a collection of commonly banned books- like F451. So cool!
It's from Carolyn Forsman- very cute. Her line is called "Conversation Piece Jewelty"-- love it!!
A lot of other cute things, but this is my favorite for sure!

Gidget

I love this movie.
I have the tape. Like VHS. Yes. It's true.
I have loved this movie since I was a kid- my mom loved it and made us watch it. So, I've grown up watching it. And I still have about 10 VHS tapes in my life- mainly because I haven't been able to replace them on DVD. Either I haven't found them, or I haven't looked. People in my life make fun of me for watching this movie. And then double the fun making when they find out that I have the tape. But I don't care. I love it.

I want to BE Gidget. In the scene above specifically- when Moondoggie is singing to her. Cannot take it. Love it. Love the boys. Love Kahuna. Love Moondoggie. Loves James Darren times a million. AND to top it all off, it makes me want to surf! Now, I've grown up going to the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico- not really known for their killer waves. So, I do not surf. But this movie makes me want to surf. But a sad thing happened on Saturday.
I was watching my moive in my room.
And then I had to leave.
And while I was gone, a TRAGEDY OCCURED.
SOMEONE ACCIDENTLY TAPED OVER GIDGET.
Like with the news.
I don't know how.
I don't know why.
But it happened.
And I am BEYOND sad.
So, now I need a DVD.
If you would like to support my happiness, you can follow the link (click the pic) to buy me a copy of this movie. Seriously. I may die without it. I'm just saying.
It has all 3 movies on this DVD. Which I mean, whatever. I really just NEED the first one. But I can't find it alone on DVD. And I like the other ones ok.

Am dying without my movie.

God of the Details

I was emailing my bff Heather this morning telling her how my biggest struggle is to believe that God WANTS to be the God of my details. I know He CAN. And I know He loves me. And I know He cares about me. And I he wants my life.

But. I struggle in truly knowing and believing that God WANTS to be the God of my details.

Then. I went and read my friend Annie's blog. Oh, you don't read it!??! You are SO not in the loop. Jump on over there. And read it. Now. Thank you.

And I'm reading it. And sitting at my desk. And CRYING.

because EXACTLY what she's writing about it EXACTLY what I'm struggling to live out right now.

Oh man oh man.

I love when God uses people's wisdom to impact your life.
Thanks, Annie :)

Kindle

I want a Kindle.
Are you cool enough to know about this little wireless reading device? It's pricey- BUT you can download books, newspapers, magazines, and blogs to your reader from anywhere. And it's booksized so you don't look like a doofus when using it.

If you want to buy one for me, I will graciously accept it. And send you a thank you card. And maybe let you borrow sometimes when I'm not using it.

well, I was going to show you a picture, but blogger's throwing a tantrum.
